How many internet poker players are women?

The thought has been raised about the ratio of men to women playing online poker. Here's a chance to find out about the ratio.

I would say the % of women playing online is greater than the % of women at 2+2. Since only 2+2ers will be voting, this poll is worthless.

What makes you think that? Just curious, as I cannot think of any reasons myself.

I think the % of women playing online would be at least equal to the % you find in live cardrooms, possibly greater because the internet does not pose the intimidation you face in playing live the first time(or few times).

Here I see very few actual women, although we do have a few posters who pretend to be.

So far I am the only woman who voted. I realize 2+2 does not encompass the whole poker universe. I thought it would be interesting to find out some kind of ratio. The poll does not take a whole lot of time or thought. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I would think the % of women posters here would be the same as the % of women players, as I do not see any reason why a fewer percentage of women would try to improve their game as compared to men.

Maybe i'm wrong.

This goes both ways...either a woman pretending to be a guy or simply a poster not advertising the fact they are female. While (obviously) the majority of people here are guys I suspect there are more than you think.

I think that the percentage of women on 2+2 is lower than in the general internet poker population. There are some women who only go on the women's forums, or aren't comfortable in this environment. This place can be quite the boy's club sometimes.

Many of the women that I know play online with generic or male names; they feel that they don't get run over as much or have to deal with come-ons that way. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the ladies that post here also were stealth.

my wife plays almost every night, either live or online( we either have sex or play poker every night, so, yeah...she plays LOTS of poker). my brother's fiance also plays fairly frequently.

she's never read a page of 2+2.
