Wow. That is a huge huge reccomendation. You should tell his publisher to actually release the book. Its past the release date and still no word if its going out or not.

[/ QUOTE ]

According to amazon, mine was just shipped yesterday.

Thats amazing, I preordered my book as soon as it was listed on their site. That sucks.

Mason,

Wow. Your review is really making me salivate for this book. I'd probably pay 100 bucks to have a copy in my hand today! Thanks for the tip.

Jeff

Why did Barry put his face on the cover? Do we just assume that he is an egomaniac?

Branding.

If you're on TV right now, it's just smart business sense.

it was relativity, not just general relativity. And of course that's absurd. For a while one person understood it, then he published it and most scientists who read about it understood it.

As feynman says though: 'No one understand quantum mechanics'

Default Thanks, Mason

Thanks for the review Mason. I ordered the book from Amazon - should ship this week. I have been looking forward to this book.

As an aside, I e-mailed Barry with a couple of questions in April, to which he responded promptly and with sage advice. From afar, I have been very impressed with him.

During a break at the WSOP $2500 NLHE event (#24), I found Barry (who was on break in the Omaha event) and introduced myself. He remembered my name from the e-mails. It was a thrill to meet him.

Unfortunately, we both promptly busted out, Barry at the last 2 tables, me on the bubble (125th out of 1009, paid 100) after running into AA twice (once with TT, once with QQ).

PS I know you don't give out 10s indiscriminately.

In chess authors usually write positive reviews for each other in order to get a positive review on their own book. That's something like an unspoken agreement.

I'm usually accused of only giving our books good ratings and everyone's else's bad ratings.

You guys have noticed that Mason hasn't bothered rating SS2 yet.... think there is a reason?

This rating means a lot to me. While I don't always agree with Mason's low ratings (probably because of where I am in my developement) his high ratings carry a lot of weight with me.

Can't wait for a full review.

Hi Beavis:

As I said, I'm not writing any reviews right now. But I have read SS2 and its rating is a 7.

Best wishes,
Mason

Hi Everyone:

I've read Barry Greenstein's book, Ace on the River. It's terrific and it will get my highest rating of 10.

Mason,

Since you're one of few people that have read the book and are relatively neutral, how relevant do you think the book is for players that aren't playing in the uber limits?
