Default Stupid Play?

Breakdown on the hand? I hadn't bluffed a single hand at this table and showed down a few solid winners. Playing tight, not sure if anyone notices at this level though. I don't like how I played it one bit but I was taking a break from my "normal" strategy and seeing if I could pull off a Doyle Brunson-esque move.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (9 handed)

saw flop|<font color="C00000">saw showdown</font>

I dont like the overbet on the flop. If youre going to make a play for it, fine: bet the pot. When he comes over the top, its time to muck it.

Disclaimer: Im still pretty new to this whole NL wackiness, so I very well could be wrong.

This sort of play just isn't worth it at a $25 Party table. 95% of the people there are playing only their own cards and are totally oblivious to anything anybody else is doing so raising a small suited connector will not gain you any advertising value. People will also happily throw all their chips in with top pair no kicker on a scary board (as in this case) or even with nothing but a non-nut flush draw. Use this to your advantage! When you hit a hand, you WILL be paid off, possibly in 2 or 3 places. There's just no reason to try anything tricky at these tables. Do this at a $5-$10 game and maybe the other guy will lay down but this sort of play is -EV in limits this low.

The money is too shallow, and opposition likely too bad, for you to make these raises from early position.
