Default Trip report...Harrahs \"Best Tournament report\"

I will not discuss specific hands here, I will just give my thoughts on the tournament and the structure. Posters Mostsmooth and CCX met me at the tournament.

The tournament drew 145 entries. The final 9 players got paid. The levels started at T25 and T25 blinds. Everyone received T2000 to start and the levels last 45 minutes. We got a break ever 2 levels.

We played on the third floor in the main ballroom. I did not think the room had adequate lighting. I joked that they kept it like this to punish the players wearing sunglasses

We started at 7:10. The room had enough monitors to see the status of the tournament.

Overall, they did an ok job. Mostsmooth, had a problem at his table that he should post. The dealers at my table made a few mistakes with change and dealing to stacks without seats. Players also could not talk to observers during a live hand. I got scolded for talking to CCX and Mostsmooth, when they visited my table

If they make this a monthly tournament, I will most likely play in it every month.

Several players questioned my notebook at the table. The player to my immediate right, a good ole boy from Arkansas, asked if I was writing a book. I pretended I did not hear the question until he asked me again. I answered no, and he game a justification of why he asked the question.

We had a good mixture of players. The local regular players only made up about 30% of the field. The tournament had first time players. I had one first timer at my table.

I did not make the money, or even make any noise. I busted out just after Mostsmooth did.

i had fun, good seeing you mike

when i finally woke up with a playable starting hand sometime after the middle of the second round in AKs, i pooped it away on a KJ9 rainbow board to KJo when another K hit the river - there was an abnormally large population of fucking idiots there, too

then i drove next door to the borg and played some 6/12, which was mildly uneventful, though it was definitely very not crowded for a friday in that there was open 10 and 20 seating the whole 4 hrs i was there, and even the lower limits did not have a bad wait...then i almost fell asleep driving home despite the signs on the AC expressway that implore one to "stay alert, stay awake, stay alive"

I have noticed the last couple times I went to Borgata how uncrowded it has been. Does anyone have any theories why this is? Is Tropicana's The Quarter stealing some of the business away?

What I had figured was that it was starting to get warmer/nicer out, and people are starting to go other places instead of casinos on weekends. Once people are sick of being outside and/or it gets hot enough where the beaches are populated, I'm sure "list-hell" will return.

Except he is right.... once the Quater opened up, the Trop was packed with quality people again. It truly was an overnight success.

While I agree with the statement that the Quarter can be considered a reasonable success, it has been open for a few months now during which the Borgata was still packed beyond belief on weekends.
