Default question after reading \"running a household\" thread

How many of you know married couples (or are yourselves) thirty and over that neither have kids, nor are trying/have tried to have kids? I'm not sure that I know anyone that fits. If that's typical, there's probably a lot of reasons why; what do you think are the biggest ones?

People who don't want kids don't get married. They just date or live together.

I can't imagine marrying someone without the intention of having kids.

The couple I know are in their fifties. She didn't really care either way and he preferred not to. They are both really busy, he's a lawyer/accountant and she's a university instructor. They also love to travel.

I think it's mainly that they didn't want to give up their lives to have children.
