Bonus whore 2-4 limit,or rake too high??
Are you really bonus whoring when you play 2-4 limit games? I've read calculations of about $1 average rake per hand. Even with 5x bonus of $100 = 500 raked hands, and assuming only half the hands are raked, you need to play 1000 hands. The casino takes in $1000 total. Even at full tables, if the average is 9 players, each player is contributing $111, so the casino is still profiting $11 per person.

Something isn't right with what you just said..
If the average rake of raked pots were $1, and only 1/2 the pots were raked, so that you had to play 1,000 hands, and there were 9 players, the players would each contribute an average of 500 hands x $1 / 9 = $55.55 (not $111). The 500 hands that weren't raked.. had ZERO rake collected.. meaning nobody contributed squat. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] OTOH, if you are suggesting the average rake is $1 for all pots (all hands dealt), and 1/2 the pots were unraked; therefore the average rake collected in a raked pot has to be $2, then your calculation would be correct. BUT, this is not the case in any 2/4 game I've seen online! If $100 bonus requirement is simply 500x raked hands, you are getting a free lunch in any online 9 or 10 handed 2/4 game.

Yes, I believe the $1 average is all hands, so the averaged raked hand would be $2.

Let's see, you play poker that you would be playing already and get $100 for doing this? In my book that's free money. Bonus whoring, rakeback, it's all free money in the end that supplements your poker winnings.
You have to beat the rake in addition to the game to be a net winner. Rakebacks and whoring just make it less rake you have to beat.

Yes, it all helps. But the question is if the casino is giving free money or just a reduced rake. And ovbiously most people are NOT beating the rake.

If you can play well enough for the limit you can beat the rake--win money above the bonus--and collect the bonus. People are even doing it at 25c-50c on Paradise, and 50c-$1 on Party. Some people are doing it at even lower limits on the crypto sites to build bankroll. It takes some time,at least two-tabling, and good game selection. But it can be done.

Okay, sorry for the confusion. I regularly beat the 20-40 for $40 per hour. Of course a lot of people can beat the rake, and you should play as high a limit as possible to maximize your hourly. I'm just trying to understand the structure of rakeback and bonuses, so I can help my friends make money in low limits. I think the main problem is bonus whores have to play 10-20 sites, and all this time you are not improving your poker skills effectively.
