I thought he was hooked on opium?

Anyway:

Yeah, I do. Encyclopedia Brown was the MAN when I was a kid.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh, c'mon, these payoffs were always absurd.

"SOLUTION:

Encyclopedia knew that Old Man Jenkins would not have neatly replaced the pistol case on his bookshelf, but instead would have dropped it on the floor in his eagerness to capture the robber. Faced with this weakness in his story, Jenkins confessed."

Here's what I thought of:

Oh, and the greatest detective ever is Philip Marlowe.

I WAS THERE TOO GOD DAMN IT. Just look this thing in the eye and let's get on with our lives. I bet Sally's quite the Sappho now.

Hardy Boys were equally bad. Typically it's the "I've just captured you and so now I will taunt you with the explict details of my plot so that if you happen to escape you'll be able to put me away for life".

I was annoyed when a very similar device reared it's head in the end of the last Harry Potter book.

I think I saw a VH1 Where Are They Now? on the Encyclopedia Brown gang.

EB is in prison for drug distribution (although he swears his innocence). It's sad because he got caught up in his own fame. Next thing you know, he's doing lines of blow off strippers bellies and hanging with the wrong crowd.

Sally finally finished the last of her surgeries and has completely turned into a fully functioning man.

The rest of the Idaville folks kinda faded into obscurity as the years rolled on.

Oh c'mon, no Bugs Meany update?

My all time favorite setup was "Encyclopedia Brown goes to Texas." Complete with illustrations of Fort Worth like it was Dodge City, c. 1881. Good times.

I actually remember almost nothing from the series.

Had forgotten about Bugs. Funny.

And where was Fenton in all this? Seriously, people with names like "Chet" and "Biff" should be [censored]. I can't say [censored], but I can say "Biff," what the [censored]? Who are the real sleuthes here?
