Ok, I'm not going to pretend to be some spectacular plotical mind, I am mearly great and that is good enough for me.

So, I've had this idea for the past ohhhh, I dunno, how long has the chimp been in office? That long. So my question...

Would you support a change to allow for a president to be elected to office for a 3rd term? 4th? 5th? ...

I am not proposing change to abolish the current 2 term limit, but I would like to see a mechanism for allowing for further terms.

Something like 'in order to be elected to a 3rd or 4th term, you must receive 2/3 or all electorial and popular vote', or something like that.

Would you support such change?

No, because over the long term it is better that Presidents reflect the general political desires of the electorate rather than return a "personally popular" person to the office for a very long time.

A quick look at the Senate or the House will show that some popular individuals stay in office forever even though they do not reflect the basic views of their state/district.

Really? People continue to vote for someone because they are "popular" but don't support their views? How do they maintain this popularity and continue to act against the wishes of the voters ?

Do you have any links to someone who has voted for a representative or senator because they didn't believe in anything they stood for but Boy, they had nice hair?

For most of the countrys history, presidents voluntarily chose to follow the example set by George Washington, limiting their tenure to two terms or less.

They consolidate a lot of power, and they bring in a lot of money. Many voters will vote for a candidate whose actions are against their wishes just as easily as they'll go to a job even though they think their employer is an ass. John McCain is a great example of a candidate strongly disliked by the people who elect him.
