another vote for calling, although I don't think it's a terrible fold with a better read. have you seem him underbet the river like that a lot, if so with what kinds of hands?

agreed, the original poster didn't say which cards were diamonds, I think that's important info though.

You got the first part right. Check obviously.

As for the 2nd half of the play, I'd be hard pressed to fold my straight here. If he had a set he would have raised somewhere along the way it seems as a 9, T or diamond could have killed his action. With the late position preflop raise he certainly has a wide range of hands here.

With AQ/KQ I think he's checking behind here alot of the time. You're looking at a boat or a missed diamond draw (AK-Ax). Although it's not AQ of diamonds.

As someone mentioned earlier, please tell us what cards were diamonds as it would help access the chance that he's on missed diamonds.

So yeah, whatever, call it.

I haven't read the other replies, but this is all about your read. I have played with Paul and he doesn't have to be full to make this bet. Without a read, Im calling.

Did you check that river with the intention of inducing a bet? I hope so. Nice work. Push.

Edit: btw I only play the 50NL online.

And you beat it?

And what would be the point of a push then? To lose the rest of your stack when Paul gleefully calls with a boat? To still win the same when he folds a busted draw?

Yes, I know. I spoke too quickly but on the other hand, have you ever been betting along with top pair then improved to trips and tried for a check-raise out of position? If your opponent has the AQ he will have to put you on a flopped str8 or boat to fold for another $1200 on a $6900 pot. Maybe the OP's smallish turn bet eliminates this presentation as he would either check the turn or bet stronger to protect tp.
