Nobody is debating he is a very skilled player, we just don't like him because he's a total douche bag.

i was searching my friends name and came upon this thread...i've personally known scott since highschool, and we used to play poker together. the "cockyness" that was shown on TV maybe was part of his pokergame...

Scott FIschman, last Tuesday on ESPN, not playing, but standing over Gank who has just won the omaha hi/lo championship:

(screaming) "WE'RE TAKING OVER THE WORLD!!! WE'VE GOT ALL THE BRACELETS!!! WE'RE ALL UNDER 24!!!!" (and more ranting)

[/ QUOTE ]

Scott: We own the world series of poker, we own it, and we're all under 24

Gank: I'm 25

Scott: You are? Who cares

I've been talking with Scott via email lately, and he seems like a very nice guy. He's been helping me out with questions that I have, and has been a nice guy. As to being cocky, aren't alot of the best cocky? Not only in poker, but other sports as well ex, Barry Bonds, Derek Jeter, Mike Tyson (not the best anymore but still cocky), Terrel Owens, etc. With all of his recent success, at least he has something to be cocky about.

There's nothing wrong with professing your poker skills, but the manner that Fischman's done it (at least through the magic of TV editing) has him coming across as a guy you want to punch in the face.

"We own" is a phrase heard by pencil necks playing computer games, not professionals making hundreds of thousands of dollars playing poker.

The ultimate poker pro is the one who knows he's good at poker, knows he's better than you, and knows that you know he's better than you, but lets the results speak for themselves. Had Fischman held his lip (and perhaps not been associated with the Crew), he could be currently held in the same regard as another young hotshot who won multiple WSOP titles in a year, one Phil Ivey.

But then again, that's why guys like Ivey are being invited to the "Ace among Kings" tourney mentioned by Cardplayer, and guys like Fischman are being harassed incessently.
