I disagree - your bet was a bit small, but a bet of about 1/2 pot from a PFR makes it look like a continuation bet, and entices the caller to go over the top. You're going broke with this hand whether you like it or not - may as well try to get them to go along for the ride.

Half pot bets suck. Here is why.

Say the pot is "X." You bet 1/2 "X."

X + .5X = 1.5X
Villian must call .5x, which is 1/3 of pot. Villian has clear odds to draw to a flush/straight.

Again, 1/2 pot bets suck, especially where draws are out there.
