i see
borg is $2 an hour for 10-20 and up.
im not sure what taj is, but i remember hearing something like $3 or even $4 for some of the higher games.
borg only takes what you spend, and from what i understand, if you get a $10 comp at taj and only spend $5, $5 goes back onto your account (but i cant verify this, perhaps somebody else can)

No he didn't. Being a prop player involves playing when the house tells you to play at the game the house tells you to play. The OP can play whenever he wants.

Yeah, I don't view it as anything but rakeback. Remember, this isn't a huge casino with lots of tables. Its a small typical local California cardroom that only spreads small stakes. If there were bigger games where rake doesn't have such a dramatic affect on your total nut, I'd probably scrape together the BR for 6/12 or 8/16.

So from his perspective, if he is indeed losing players to online offerings, which obviously is not the case with large Vegas casinos, but is indeed the case with me and several others who play there, then it is a profitable decision.

I can personally make or break a table. If it is 6 handed and I decide to get up and go home to play online, the table is in danger of breaking and there goes his $100 an hour for that table. Granted, this should only be extended to loyal customers who play I'd say 70+ hours a month and not a sign on the door saying, "Sign Up For Rakeback Today!" That wouldn't make sense I don't think. Or would it? Vegas casinos offer comps, sure, but is it in the form of cash or just "Bonus Bucks" you can use to pay for stuff at the casino. I think there is a difference.

Anyway, we'll see how it goes.

Comstock in Tracy, Ca. Small. Three hold'em tables and two BJ tables. Everybody usually knows everybody else. Kind of that Cheers feeling during the week, but gets pretty nuts on the weekends.

I saw an ad in CardPlayer for some room in California (I think) that is 'paying their players to play'.

It started gradually with something like $50 for 40 hours of play...and eventually worked up to $5000 if you played 1000 hours.
It looked like there were no restrictions on what stakes you needed to play to get the bonus.
Sorry i don't remember the name of the room...I've never played in California before so they are all pretty much the same to me.

Not sure whether other rooms have done similar before but wouldn't be surprised.
This room obviously just wants to get players in the door to get/keep their games going.
