buying an engagement ring
I'm looking to spend 15-20K on an engagement ring. I don't have a huge rush on the timing. I've done research and know what I/she wants, but I'm looking for a good deal as well. I'm willing to buy one online or in person, and I'm frequently in Boston, Greenwich, and NYC. Does anyone have suggestions on places to get a ring?

Re: buying an engagement ring
I was going to post a message on how insane that price was, but who knows, for you, that may be tip money. For the average person, it's WAY out of line. Anyone, including your fiancee, who tells you different is not in touch with reality.
Good luck. Hope you know what you're doing. |

Re: buying an engagement ring
I thought spending 3 to 4 months salary on a engagement ring is about right... So, someone who makes 60k/year... 15-20k sounds right?

Re: buying an engagement ring
Spend no more than $7K and save the rest for a down payment on a house! I remember the first couple years of marriage were tough trying to get a home loan and then paying a mortagage with no cash reserves because I spent it on a ring. Invest in something you BOTH can enjoy!

Re: buying an engagement ring
i make a good living and i'm in the engagement market. the idea of spending ONE month pre-tax on a ring makes me want to puke. 2+ months is laughable.
