Re: My political philosophy in a nutshell...
By militant, I mean that I am steadfast in my ideology and willing to evangelise it.
As for left-libertarian, think of certain factions of the NDP and Bloc Quebecois here in Canada, left-wing Hong Kong politician Leung Kwok-hung, Czechoslovak dissident Aleksandr Dubcek (No love for the Soviets on my part.), Bob Brown and the Aussie Greens, Spanish President Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, the Scottish Socialist Party, a few fringe radical parties in France, etc... |

Re: My political philosophy in a nutshell...
OK, well thanks for the clarification.
It sounds to me like you are an "activist" rather than a "militant"--I've always thought of "militant" as associated with some degree of violence, or threat of violence... |

Socialism is the antithesis of freedom. True freedom is only possible within the framework of free market capitalism.

[ QUOTE ]
Socialism is the antithesis of freedom. True freedom is only possible within the framework of free market capitalism. [/ QUOTE ] True freedom in a capitalist system is only possible when you are capital rich. True economic slavery is possible within an pure capitalistic system. How many times do I have to reiterate that systems have no regard to the human condition? A social system is simply a model for distribution of power. Why should the wealthy elite have all of the power? Capitalism puts all of the power in the hands of the wealthy. The U.S. was framed as a capitalist system. The framers were the economic elite. Funny we never ever questioned the gospel which was so obviously self-serving. We emancipated the slaves, we liberated the women, constitutionally. Why can't we set the working poor free?! Because that would collapse the slave-master system of the ruling elite. The only ones to complain are the ones too stupid/broken/voiceless to complain. The U.S. is more totalitarian than anyone seems to realize, and it is only getting worse. |

If this were true, then a person born hillbilly poor in the Ozarks would have no future other than to be poor his whole life. H. Ross Perot disproves that. Have an idea. Start your own business. That's economic freedom. |

RAMONES LYRICS
"I Don't Want To Grow Up" When I'm lyin' in my bed at night I don't wanna grow up Nothing ever seems to turn out right I don't wanna grow up How do you move in a world of fog that's always changing things Makes wish that I could be a dog When I see the price that you pay I don't wanna grow up I don't ever want to be that way I don't wanna grow up Seems that folks turn into things that they never want The only thing to live for is today... I'm gonna put a hole in my T.V. set I don't wanna grow up Open up the medicine chest I don't wanna grow up I don't wanna have to shout it out I don't want my hair to fall out I don't wanna be filled with doubt I don't wanna be a good boy scout I don't wanna have to learn to count I don't wanna have the biggest amount I don't wanna grow up Well when I see my parents fight I don't wanna grow up They all go out and drinkin all night I don't wanna grow up I'd rather stay here in my room Nothin' out there but sad and gloom I don't wanna live in a big old tomb on grand street When I see the 5 oclock news I don't wanna grow up Comb their hair and shine their shoes I don't wanna grow up Stay around in my old hometown I don't wanna put no money down I don't wanna get a big old loan Work them fingers to the bone I don't wanna float on a broom Fall in love, get married then boom How the hell did it get here so soon I don't wanna grow up . |

I suppose capitalstic democracy allows an opportunity to change social class, but it is far and few between. For ever H. Ross Perot, there are thousands of failed attempts. |
