Default Flopped Top Set .... now what?

Live 1-2 NL I cover everyone with 700 or so, 2nd biggest has 350

6 Limpers to me in SB I raise to 22 with QQ.... 4 to the flop

Flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

I lead for 30, wanting to see what develops on the flop, and what card hits the turn before commiting half my stack... is this always wrong?

Of course, if raised on the flop Im pushing

The flop bet is gross. Bet more unless you feel like having sime clown draw out on you.

Also, who says you have to put in half your stack on the turn? What if a card like the Ace [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] falls?

That bet is entirely too weak, especially since you raised pre. The only thing that beats you is a flopped str8, which is unlikely. More than likely at least one is on a decent draw. You need a stronger lead bet to find out where you are and hopefully take the pot down right there. You are playing scared here which can never be a winner long term. Now if there was no threat on the board that is a different story, but as it is you are giving everyone in the hand odds to draw to an already threatening board. You are also opening the door to having to lay down the best hand on the turn. Strong players look for these opporutnities to steal pots from timid players.

You also want a drawing hand to try to bluff you here,or make an incorrect call. Actually giving such good odds is ridiculous...

Given the size of the pot, a drawing hand might definitly shove if he thinks he has any folding equity all, so bet 2/3 of the pot here and call all their shoves.

i would rather check than bet 30. at least you have a better chance of action behind you so you can push.

Well at least we all agree, obviously this is not my normal line, but I was hoping to either get raised, or build a pot Id hammer on the turn.....back to basics

Pretty much 100% agree with all of the other posts. With over $100 in the pot you have to bet at least $60. The only thing that might make your play work is if someone views your bet as a weak bluff and will try pick up the pot with a pair/draw. Personally, I would have just potted the flop.
