Default KK w/ an A. twice. 100-200

1-2 at commerce okay game. how was my play on these?

i have KK in cutoff. folded to guy two on my right who raises, i 3 bet, button calls 3 cold. he may be steaming. or maybe not, either way he's one of the weaker spots. bb calls, other guy calls. 4 of us.

the flop is A99 rainbow. checked to me and i check. button checks.

the turn is a 3. checked to me and i check, button bets, folded back to me and i call.

the river is an A. i check, button bets, i call.

hand 2: i have KK in mp. utg raises, i 3 bet, bb calls, utg calls.

flop is AJ8 rainbow. checked to me and i check.

the turn is 4. bb bets, utg folds, i call.

river is 5. bb checks, i bet.

comments?

Hand 2, I think I'd check behind on the river. Is this shorthanded? Would BB call with a jack?

There aren't any overcards that can hit, he's better off inducing a bluff or J/8 to bet rather than getting blown off his hand, in both cases.

KK often becomes trash in a multiway raised pot. however, i think you need to be more aggressive post flop. on the 1st hand i consider betting the flop, i certainly bet the turn. if i am beat i am beat, the A flopped and no one had shown any power.

the 2nd hand is tougher. post flop when the raiser checks i probably bet it out, if i am called i need to reconsider the players, the hands i have seen from them, etc.

as i said when i opened this post, KK is often trash in a multi hand raised pot. but sometimes it is best. knowing when to proceed and when to dump it is hard. sitting at the table you need to know the opponents, (do they play any ace, etc.), and go with your knowledge of the players and your observations of that hand's play.

Please don't ever refer to my 2nd favorite starting hand as such again

Hi mike,

I don't play these limits. Or you. Or your opponents. But I like the way you played these hands. I bet you picked up some extra bets.

The flop check is fine. This is a situation where he's either way behind or pretty far ahead. If someone has an ace, he's saving money by not betting out. If no one has anything, a bet would just fold them, but checking may induce a bluff on later rounds.

So just what hand do you like in a raised multiway pot? Do you just fold 100% of the time there might be more than 3 way action for more than 1 bet?
