30 60 bellagio hand
I'm sitting in the best game I've every played in a casino or probably anywhere for that matter. There is alot of straddling and preflop capping (5 bet max). We are playing with a rock which you pust UTG as a live straddle but the guy who has it isn't UTG this hand. 8 handed I'm in the SB with 8d2d, UTG limps UTG+1 raises everyone calls to me I call BB calls UTG says "you guys wanna play a big pot?" and 3 bets UTG+1 4 bets called to me I call (at this point i forgot there was a 5 bet cap im used to the 4 bet cap in atlantic city and online) BB calls UTG caps we all call.
Before this I hadn't played a hand past the flop and probably have a tight image. Flop (40 SB) is 9h 6c 2s checked to UTG+1 who bets called to LP who raises everyone calls. The turn (28 BB) is the 7d checked to LP who bets 1 call I raise BB and UTG fold UTG +1 calls folded to MP who calls, folded to LP who groans and groans and folds the other late position caller folds. 3 to the river (36 BB) of 4c I bet UTG+1 folds and MP calls... What do you think? -Ezcheeze |

Re: 30 60 bellagio hand
When the first raise comes to me im getting 10.25 to 1 and possibly more if the BB calls. I'm not sure if this is a fold or not but I'm leaning towards a call. When it comes back around to me I'm still getting great odds. Had I realized it was a 5 bet cap I would have folded though maybe thats not even correct. I should also add that the UTG+1's raise and UTG's raising mean very little as they have been straddling and raising just for the fun of it. I think postflop is pretty standard but what do you guys think? I know usually with the pot so big will reduce my postflop edge but in this case most of these players seemed to ignore pot odds and I knew there was a good chacne they would fold hands drawing very live.

Re: 30 60 bellagio hand
I don't see why everyone is berating his play. He is getting ~10:1 on the first call and once he has already called there is no way he should fold, even when it is 2 more back to him.
On the flop he is getting 20:1-- it might be raised behind him but the pot is so huge that calling is not bad. The turn he took a shot with a lot of outs-- he did get LP to fold who probably had him beat. I am not really a big fan of the semi-bluff raise the turn play in a multiway pot because it works so rarely, but his play isn't terrible. On the river, if there is any chance he can fold someone out who has a higher pair the bet is worth it. I think after calling the turn anyone with any piece of the board is going to call but the bet is also not horrible. I don't really like the play on any of the streets, but I don't think it is as bad as the first couple posts made it out to be. |

Re: 30 60 bellagio hand
What am I missing about this rock or the blind structure that means he is getting 10-1? Is the rock in the pot? Does it count for full value since it is always left in the pot? I am confused.

Re: 30 60 bellagio hand
I think you played the hand well after the flop.
I also think you should have folded preflop, particularly if BB and/or UTG were one of the maniacs. It's too likely that you're looking at playing 82s for 5 bets and getting sucked into doing exactly what you did postflop: playing bottom pair (correctly) for 4BB. I don't understand how you "forgot" it was a 5 bet cap, when apparently pots were getting capped repeatedly, but it doesn't really matter. I'd fold preflop. |

The rock is irrelevant in this hand.

Re: 30 60 bellagio hand
I would not want to play 8-2 out of position in this game for five bets pre-flop. I would not want to play 8-2 out of position in this game. I would not want to play 8-2 out of position. I would not want to play 8-2.
