Default Share your experiences with illegal immigrants

Here are mine.

They work their ASSES off, and for very cheap. (I live in Indiana, I'm curious to hear from those near the border)

Anyone else?

When I went to Miami, the lady behind the Gas Station counter couldn't tell me where the Dr. Pepper was, because she couldn't understand me.

I've lived in Los Angeles for over 15 years. I can't think of a day where I did NOT have an interaction with an illegal immigrant. 2+2 doesn't have the server space to fully reply to your post.

Generally speaking: I think they work about as hard as any other group of people. I see very hard workers, and I see very lazy loafers.

I personally have nothing against them, and I would have made the trek here illegally myself if I were one of them. I can't see the rationale for punishing them directly for the poor policy we set up that allowed them to get here.

However, I do think we need to change our policy radically, and we need to do it as soon as possible.

I've never met a lazy illegal immigrant. In fact, I've never met a lazy legal immigrant who had a family to support back in Central/South America. If American's worked as hard as these people did, we'd be amazed at what was accomplished.

Default Hit and Run Auto Accident by a Bunch of Drunk Mexicans.

They got caught.

Several border hospitals closed because of illegals getting medical care and not paying. So they go to the county hospitals for free care. They still don't pay.

My stepfather was a legal immigrant (from South America) and when I spent time with him in the summers I spent a lot of time around illegals as well. In high school I worked various crops and worked with a lot of migrant workers there. Generally speaking, they work very hard but I still think we need some serious fixes to our immigration policy.

I work for a law firm and we do debt collections. We recover approximately $800,000.00 every month. Our largest client is the city hospital. We are located in West Virginia. I can't remember the last time I saw an illegal immigrant.

Great post, and I live in San Diego.

PT is right though - the policy does have to be changed.
