Is This a Call Preflop Aces Situation? 5/10NL
I (cover) have AA UTG and limp, four calls to SB (shortstack, 200) who pushes, BB (2K) calls, I?
the limpers behind me will fold 90% of the time here, they all have 1000 or less. fim |

With stacks this deep, I would put in a big re-raise (800-1000) and try to take down the dead money in the pot.
Hopefully, BB will put you on a middle pair that is trying to isolate against the all-in player. Against tighter players, or if other players don't think you're capable of making a move in this spot, you might lose AK and QQ, but I doubt you lose KK. Furthermore, a smooth call from you is also fairly suspect, and may tip off your holding, without making him pay for it. Although I'm sure you still take quite a few chips down when 662 flops. |

Why call and then push the flop no matter what? You're essentially giving the BB a free chance to stack you. I don't understand how this is better than pushing all in preflop.

what if BB has AK or TT-QQ? [/ QUOTE ] Why do you want to give him a free chance to outdraw you with these hands? Trying to trap here has a very poor risk versus reward ratio in my opinion. |

Re: Is This a Call Preflop Aces Situation? 5/10NL
Make it $700. If cold caller had only $1000, the smooth call would be better, but you need to pump it up because he's got a relatively deep stack there and he's not going to put a lot more in if you preflop smooth call unless he has a monster himself or outflops you. Your smooth call is going to look awful fishy, and I bet you're not getting more than another couple hundred out of him tops.
Besides, decent pot already, taking it down is not a problem. If you make it $700 and he calls, then you're at auto-push-flop stage. |

another thing is i don't know how tricky the others are but if you make it 500 or 600, it looks like an "isolation with enough money left behind to fold if someone else goes all in play" so a JJ or TT hand behind you might push on you assuming you'd smooth call with a huge hand. for this reason as well as the implied odds thing everyone else talked about, i like a raise to 500.
