Its folded to you in the SB...
Its folded to you in the SB...
(Assume a 1/2 - 3/6 table... though it dosn't really matter i'm sure someone will ask) <ul type="square">[*]what do you raise with if the bb is semi-loose and will protect liberally [*]what do you raise with if the bb is fairly tight [/list](you can respond in HEPFAP hand ranking groups to make this easier if you choose) somewhere i think i remember seeing someone (someone whos opinion that i respect) suggest raising with every hand... though i could be completely off with this memory... so thats why im asking it's also my opinion that its always wrong to complete... this is pretty much a no brainer right? |

Re: Its folded to you in the SB...
my current standards:
protecting player: lets say he completes from the big blind w/ a raise in front of him at least 50% of the time... thats fair... I'm raising with all pocket pairs, any ace, any king, and anything with a decent amount of highcard strength... i'll bottom out around J9o just to give you a decent idea... maybe some connectors like T9 tight player: i'm pretty much raising with anything, except for maybe lowest of hands some 72's 35's etc. etc. ... i think maybe i should be raising them all here? yes? |

Re: Its folded to you in the SB...
Well, against an unknown wouldn't it be correct to raise with everything above the median of average hands? I think that's Q7o+. I'm not sure though, but I think it would be bad to complete.

Re: Its folded to you in the SB...
your risking 1.5 bets to win 1 so my thinking is anything above 66%tile...
then you also factor in the out of position and that puts me somewhere a bit higher... but i think this argument is beyond the point... high card strength comes into play a lot more heads up |

Re: Its folded to you in the SB...
but do you consider the .5 that was forceably taken from you... ?
can someone clear this up? this came up in a post i was discussing earlier today as well i guess you're right... you have to consider everything thats in the pot. |

Re: Its folded to you in the SB...
What're your opinions on raising any two? Obviously opponent-specific, but interesting.

Re: Its folded to you in the SB...
eh... that didn't really satisfy me...
droolie says all... but then chimes back in if the opponent is tougher I won't raise with any two. (his thinkings along my line...) olliejen says raising Ax, 33-TT, KT+; completing JJ+. (a few people liked the limp with high pockets... eh... just raise. i think olliejen is way to tight..) bt your take on the issue? do you feel where i stand currently is decent enough and im not slowly bleeding money in these situation? |
