Default KK Hand

10-handed 5-10 at PokerRoom

I haven't played a hand in probably an orbit and a half when I pick up K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in MP.

UTG limps, 1 fold, UTG + 2 makes it $40, I call, everyone else, including UTG folds.

UTG + 2 has played a few more hands than I have, hasn't done anything outlandish as far as I can see.

Flop: 3-3-4 rainbow.

UTG + 2 checks, I bet $65, he calls.

Turn: 8, putting two hearts on board.

I bet $175, he makes it $350, I ???

Any comments are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check the turn. Many wonderful things can happen. Relatively few bad things can happen.

I'm relatively new to this level of play, but I think smooth calling with KK preflop is a huge mistake. Get your money in PF. Raise to at least $100.

This might be a long shot, but there are few hands that the guy utg will raise with before the flop and then not make a follow up bet on the flop, especially with it being 3-3-4. Its tough to put him on a three here, but I might put him on aces. He allows you one card to catch up, when you take another shot at the pot he figures he still has the best hand. Medium pockets are betting this flop, so 8 8 wouldn't worry me as much. Without putting in a raise preflop to define the hand its tough to determine what to do now. My line would have been to bet the flop like you did and then check the turn, calling down whatever bet he makes on the river. That way you can call any reasonable bet with the pot not being extremely large.
