I heard that they serve alcohol for free on their international flights. Is this true?

On every transatlantic and transpacific flight I have ever been on, alcohol was free. Also, when I flew to Brazil a couple of years ago it was free.

I think this used to be true moreso than it is now.

I flew to Paris a couple weeks ago (nonstop from Boston on American) and I needed to pay for drinks.

That's weird because I fly to France and I never had to pay for alcohol.

I fly internationally every year or so (qantas or Air NZ) and it's usually free beer (in mini cans) and wine but pay for spirits.

They're quick to crack down though.
