Re: My Friday Rant
I know of a couple players at Canterbury that make over $100,000 a year out of that room using game selection as one of there tools. Neither of these players go to play and say, "Well 30/60 is the biggest game so thats the one I have to play in". Some days it 6/12, and somedays it 30/60, and some days it's a mixture of both. I do not know how many of the regulars in a game such as this make more than these 2 individuals, but I think it is safe to say that it is not alot. Everybody plays for different reasons, but if your reason for playing is to make money then game selection and not necessarly the notion that I am a (insert the limit) player should determine what games to play.

Re: My Friday Rant
Good rant.
Also, Carson is way underrated, he talked about a lot of the concepts that are in SSHE a long time before it was published. |

There's not enough proper capitalization going on in IM conversations these days.

He was pretty sloopy in that one. These days he uses periods, too.

Re: My Friday Rant
I thought for sure this post was going to be about Gin Rummy.
Anyway, good post. I think ego and pride sometimes gets in the way of people playing in a good game when they see one. There seem to be plenty of people out there who wouldn't sit at a 5/10 table now, even if it's good, because they've "moved past" that level. |

Re: My Friday Rant
I agree with what you are saying. In my usual game (party 3/6) I see the same people doing the same things all the time. If I didn't play any other game that's all I would know and my game would suffer. (its bad enough) Id like to add that playing down has it's advantages too. It's easy to forget the skills that were important at a lower limit but don't apply to the game/level you are playing now.
I agree. I think you need to be careful about playing over your bankroll but that you should look to mix it up and challenge yourself often. For me anyway it makes the game more interesting and makes me a better player. |

Re: My Friday Rant
Lets define "good game" for everyone out there, i guess this could be somewhat different for everyone.
To me if my bank roll feeling good, i like to have a crazy player or two in the game. If the roll is hurting, 30%(i think) or less to the flop is what ill look for, hoping that the TPTK will hold up. lemme here what you guy think |
