Default Problem with Party/Empire/Intertops

Can't log in to my account. Get an error message (9001).

I tried it on another computer and it worked fine. So the problem is somewhere on my machine. Party support of course was very unhelpful.

I've tried uninstall/re-install.
I've tried restore point. restored to previous day when it worked
I've tried system restore to reload factory settings.
I've tried to edit registry keys.

Any other ideas? Idon't want to reformat my hard drive but i will as a last resort.

When exactly does the problem happen?

Can you get to the login screen or does the software give an error as you load it?

Ummm..Firewall software/router issue, spyware protection software, ISP problems (did you try on the on the computer from a different provider?)

I would first eliminate external potential problems:
Diffeernt ISP /different PC works--> Isolate ISP/router/cable modem (assuming you have a laptop ior another PC at home). Try using a dial up connection (different ISP) no router

No other PC at home ---> try dialup connection no router (basically different provider)
If this fails, your PC is the problem

Did you change the registry for any bonus hunting before the problem occurred? Did you make a backup?

Let us know your troubleshooting progress

i can get to the login screen, error occcurs when i click login button.

Tried dial-up connection didn't work same error.

I didn't change registry for bonus hunting. I did have party/empire both on computer(for several months) and was able to use both. I did recently download Intertops and set up a new account. Problems started after that.

Ok, so is your PC.
Did Party said what error 9001 meant?

You said you did a restore , I am assuming before the installation of Intertops. Was the problem right after you setup the account or you played for a few hours/days and then the problem happened?

You are sure you did not install anything new or updated spyware protection or anyhting like that right before the problem.

At this point, it seems a corruption of some file/registry entry in your PC that may only get cleared by re-installing the OS.

Damn, I Hate to keep posting this but i'm running out of options.

I can now login to the My Account web page and enter my info and see my balance/cashout/deposit etc...

I cannot login on the startup screen at party.

Things i have done so far in order i did them:

1) Tried to login to party, got an error.

2) tried to login to empire, same error.

3)unistalled/ re-installed both programs.

4) reset computer to a restore point when program was working. no help.

5) did a system retore to reset to factory settings. No help.

6) deleted value in registry software_calculator_uclid. No help.

7) re-install Windows xp media center edition os. No help.

8) tried to create a new account. No help. error 9902 then.

I was able to login to my account from my parents computer. Different location/Isp.

When i formatted my hard drive, erased all programs, installed XP, shouldn't my computer have been clean. I did install a firewall (Norton) before Party. But i have had that since day one 18 months a no problems.

I guess i won't be playing party anymore.

I have a fairly new computer 512mb 2.66GHZ 160GB HD Cable Modem 2MB connection. DVD/CD Burner.

ANY OTHER IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED/I would hate to buy a new computer just to play poker. Although i could get one good enough for that for $400-$500.
