Default Any Albuquerque folks playing this Labor Day wknd?

Making a long wknd trip to Albuquerque to get back to playing limit and was wondering if anyone will be around. Throw out a "sup bro" to the long haired kid attempting to crush the 10-20 there.

I'll be there. This is kind of a shot in the dark, but do you by any chance have a very pretty blonde girlfriend?

Granted, she seems to turn everyone's head when we come in the room, alas, she will not be making this trip with me. I know, I know...but do tell, do I know you?

I live in Albuquerque but I probably won't make it to Sandia. I used to play there alot (years ago) but with online poker I don't get over there very much (hardly ever). My wife is out of town for a few weeks as I had some time to kill so I was thinking about going over there to play in Tuesday's NL Hold'em tourny. Then I thought of the 20 minute rounds and how much more of a crap shoot it becomes in a B&M casino and decided to pass. I guess the Labor Day tourney will probably have 30 minute rounds and I realize that Sandia has shuffling machines now. Still its so many fewer hands than online for the same period I'll probably end up passing as usual. Best of luck in the tournys this weekend though.

One the one hand, I understand where you are coming from. But, I find that live play is SO much poorer than online that I find it quite profitable, not to mention a much needed change of pace. The people you meet, the feel of the chips, etc etc. This has been hashed and rehashed many-a-time about live vs online, but I need to have that live experience. In fact, I mush prefer it, but, to each their own.

About the tournaments, I know nothing about them this weekend other than their normal Sunday afternoon one. What is going on Labor Day (blocked at work here so I can't look it up myself). Also, I am much more so a cash game player, so the tournaments are not the draw for me. But still, I am curious as to what is going on this wknd.

TIA

Sandia is having 3 $100 buy in tournaments this weekend. Saturday Limit Hold'm, Sunday No Limit Omaha/8 (not sure if that's right), Monday NL Hold'em. They're adding $500 each day. The $40 buyin tournament on Sundays isn't happening this weekend due to the special tournament.

BTW I understand totally about playing live. I think 20 minute rounds in a B&M tournnament is a crap shoot (not that I haven't done it many times). Playing money games live is a different story. I mostly don't make it down to Sandia to play live because I don't want to make the effort to travel to the card room. Kind of ironic because when poker was first introduced here in 1995 I had no problem with it at all. I've read some of your posts about wanting to play for a living and your trips from Amarillo to Albuquerque to play. Sandia's a good room so I understand why you like playing there and all. There used to be more higher limit games there. A pot limit hold'em game went down there for years but I think the producers went broke.

adios, thanks for the info. I'll check out more about it when I get home later tonight. I don't think I'll be playing in any of them, but good to know nonetheless.

As far as playing live at Sandia, yes, I do enjoy it. The games there are some of the softest that I have seen, though the 10/20 can get a little bit tougher at times. I remember the pot limit game they used to have, but never had the roll to sit in it. I have also found that the NL games are quite soft as well. Overall, playing there, live, is definitely worth the trip to me. While I have local underground games here in Amarillo, it's all NL or PLO with pockets deeper than the company I currently work for , so I don't sit in the PLO game. And, to be perfectly honest, the NL scene is growing tiresome for me. I find myself wanting to get back to playing limit and trying my hand at bigger and bigger games. Maybe if you get a wild hair, I might see you up there some time. If you get bored this weekend and wanna play some live cash games, gimme a "sup bro". Also, I'd love any feedback that you might could give regarding me going pro. I have my blog going now (cardsarewar.blogspot.com) if you get bored....

Played there last night, and it was still your typical loose game. Occassionally you'll get some maniacs there that raise with their JTo in EP. Only once in the last few weeks did I sit down and the table was extremely tight with a bunch of blind stealing going on. But thats rare.
