I also hate it. I mean, I don't really care if I cash for like 7 bucks, thats $2 profit. I rather get few hundred more when I win.

Btw. just won $5 freezout for ~1k.

I know, it's great, I'm really happy about it. But if I could get more it would feel even better. And I usually place really high or then I drop out rather early.

There were 1054 entrants, and it paid 198. I don't think it wouldn't be bad if it would pay only to top100 or so.

The numbers presented in this thread are way off. The differences in payouts are by a small percentage, not like an 700% difference.

Well the ninth place in a 3 dollar used to produce like 140 bucks I think. Now it's 19 bucks.

There is about a 0% chance this is true assuming equal field sizes.

Though the numbers are probably way off (partly due to my exaggeration)... there certainly feels like there's a differnce between the value of playing these now.

You're certainly going to place more but you're not going to make as much money when you place. Are you saying it doesn't make a difference if the payout structure is 20% over 10%?

Obviously it makes a difference. What im saying is that say normally 7th place gets you 3% of the prize pool in a 10% payout. It's not like a 20% payout is going to give you like .5% now all of a sudden. It changes the payouts but not by any ridiculous amounts.

But does it lose in value in playing because of the difference (however small) in payouts? You're obviously going to place outside of the final table more often than you'll FT, so by increasing the amount of places and decreasing the amount of money, in the long run you're losing out on quite a bit... right??

It depends.

... Joking of course. It does depend on your placement distribution. If you are constantly coming in 1st (who constantly comes in 1st?) then yes you are losing value. But if you are constantly going semi deep and bubbling, then you are gaining value. So in other words, good players should like this less than bad players.

Another Question for you Ansky (while I have your attention):

Would it make a considerable difference to the larger buyin tournaments (lets say 50+5 and above) being as they have a smaller field of players?
