Re: QQ flops top set, pretty disgusted with this one.
I actually don't think the flop check is so godawful, since you are heads up. I very rarely slowplay at the low limits, but missing 1 small bet here isn't the end of the world. If you ever do slowplay in small stakes hold-em, then the one instance you would do it would be in a small pot heads up w/ a monster hand, so this situation could apply.
However, checking the turn is a cardinal sin here. |

Yeah, but that doesn't mean there is no place for slowplaying in limit. [/ QUOTE ] Slowplay when you are in bad position and want to keep players in a pot. Do not slowplay in hand like this. |

Re: QQ flops top set, pretty disgusted with this one.
Playing .50/1 limit, you don't really find too many places where slowplaying is appropriate. I thought this was one of them. Apparently not. Thanks for all the comments, I'll know what to do if this situation arises in the future.

I'm reading this thread without looking at the replies, but I just don't understand the logic for not pumping this one on the turn for sure.
He did not bet on the flop, you have to bet on the turn. |

[/ QUOTE ] As I've said(I don't think I mentioned this in my original post) I had noticed that if it was checked around on the flop he would either a)donk the turn if OOP or b)bet the turn if checked to him in position. I obviously though that he would bet the turn when I checked the flop and the turn. |

Re: QQ flops top set, pretty disgusted with this one.
I *may* have checked on the flop under those conditions, but rarely, and only if I was rather sure I would get some action. Since you raised pre-flop though I'm not sure you can expect him to follow his MO. I don't think I would ever check on the turn though.

Why is this thread so long?

Re: QQ flops top set, pretty disgusted with this one.
Nah, I think you're giving a player like that too much credit at this level. He's just waiting to hit something on you, and he's not betting out because you raised pre-flop. Who knows what he's got, it could be anything. I usually lead out the flop as well--he has no idea what you've got and given his loose betting that you described he may very well call you down just hoping to hit an ace or something (if he even has that).

A better line if your read is strong would be to bet the flop and then check to him on the turn to checkraise him. |
