Default Poker Superstars III

Apparently, it starts today at the Lucky Nugget.

Matusow was talking about it at the final table of the TOC, saying he paid 50k so he can't just blow it off. He was concerned about finishing the TOC and getting enough sleep and chill time to adequately prepare for PS III.

Hellmuth is also playing in this one.

Oh yeah, Greg mentioned he's playing in it too in a thread a little ways back.

I don't have time to grab the press release for the event, but I'm sure it's floating around the net somewhere. If no one else posts it before I get back to this thread, I'll probably do it myself.

Isn't this at the Golden Nugget, not the Lucky nugget?

And the Heads up is moving to Caesars.

Yep. I heard from the poker room manager at Sands that it was at The Plaza.

There is no doubt that it is NOT at the lucky nugget, which is an online card room only.

Greg reports on his web site that it's at the Golden Nugget and says it's a probably a closed set.

So much for trying to check it out.

Hi there,

I'm new to the forums (please go easy on me!)

From the various sources I've seen, the following people are involved in PS3:

Todd Brunson
Johnny Chan
Chris Ferguson
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Ivey
Mike Matusow
Chris Moneymaker
Greg Raymer

Apparently it will be 24 people in total, as PS2 was.

Has anyone heard of anyone else who's involved?

Cheers.

The only other person I know for sure that you didn't mention is Daniel Negreanu.

But I'm sure players like Scotty Nyguen, Kathy Liebert, Barry Greenstein, and Carlos Mortenson will be back.

This field looks a lot more entertaining and stronger with Ivey, Matusow, Raymer, Negreanu, and Hellmuth adding to the mix from Season 2. I hope Freddy Deeb returns.

Any news on if the horrible structure will remain the same?

I also hope Howard Lederer would be invited.

From what I know the format will remain the same except for when they get to the final sixteen there will still be four groups of four, but you have to win to advance. If you don't win on your first try, the three remaining players play and the winner there advances with less chips.

I definatly prefer the final 16 format you describe to "he has to knock out his opponents in a specific order".

The only other problem I had with the macro structure was making the quarter finals single elimination. This tournament was suposed to be about consistancy, then they threw that in there. I would hope they would fix this.
