if you're asking this question you probably should be playing in games with more players. my progression has been full ---> short and I think it's worked well. full is a more fundamental game where there is more or less a correct way to play. the shorter you get the more spots there are where you can mix up your play and there are less spots where there's a clearcut right or wrong
