Default Bears Fans: Comments on QB Situation?

I am a Lions fan, but I am interested in this situation now that Orton is the starter. I was just listening to a Mike Ditka interview on the Dan Patrick show. Ditka absolutely shredded Hutchinson. It was actually kind of funny.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to see either of them this preseason. So, is Orton the next Roethlisberger? Is Hutchinson really that bad?

Damn I can't wait til' football starts

Orton has looked great this preseason....against other team's second and third stringers. He has also impressed in practice. I'm a little concerned about him, but I've been burned about a hundered times by Bears QBs so paint me skeptical. I just want them to find a QB that won't make mistakes. If it's Orton so be it. I just hope he doesn't make too many rookie mistakes.

Let's put it this way, Hutchenson threw one pick that was returned for a touchdown and another pick that was run down to the three, where the Bills managed to kick a 40 yard field goal. And the Bills only scored 9 points in the first half. Plus, he was sacked three times. His rating was 0.0.

Yeah, and he was supposed to be a contender for the Heisman before last season, too.

Default Hutchinson cut by bears.

Bears cut Hutchinson

I can't believe Hutchinson lasted in the the NFL this long. After the Cowboys cut him, I didn't think anyone would pick him up. The Bears were just that desperate, I guess.

Now, it's Orton, Jeff Blake, Kurt Kittner for the Bears QB rotation.

Hutchinson is Craig Whelihan minus the talent. He'll probably suck in the AFL too.

FREE JEFF GEORGE!!

My comment about him in Pro Football Forecast 2004 was gold. If I can drudge up my copy, I'll rekey it in.

This pre-season, Hutchinson looked about as bad as a QB could possibly look. This coming from somebody who has sat through Henry Burris, Johnathon Quinn, Craig Krenzel, Kordell Stewart, Chris Chandler, et all in recent years.

Making Orton the starter was the obvious choice he looked good the first couple games. Friday vs. Buffalo, Hutchinson couldn't move the team in the first half if you take out a Thomas Jones 40 yard run. Orton comes in at halftime, and with many starters from both teams still on the field, he marched down the field for a score.

Orton is a rookie, but playing under Joe Tiller vs. Big Ten defenses has to count for something. BTW, the TD pass that Orton threw vs. Buffalo, the speaker in his headset wasn't working, he called his own play and 2 guys were wide open.

Bears may be interested in our backup, Tommy Maddox. You can add that to the stack of Ex-Steeler QBs shipped off of to Chicago (Stewart, Miller).

If orton plays not to lose the games they will be an 8-8 team...mark my word.
