Stars "Find Player"

Does anyone know if the "Find Player" function is directed to a file on our own computer? As it works now, you type in a player name and if he is playing it will remain on that list for the future. If not online it does not.
I have some players names I want to search for on Stars like we do with Party, but I don't know a streamlined way to do it.
Any suggestions?
