Default Tec infra-red grills

Anyone have any experience using these? I'm thinking about getting one.

Yes. They heat up quickly and cook faster. There is a learning curve if you are used to grilling on charcoal or gas. I've only had suboptimal results on lobster.

Yes. The model shown in the OP's post is the cheapest of their line (besides the portable one) it starts at around $1100.

It's a great grill. My family owns a grill/fireplace store just outside of Chicago and we've been selling these for probably over 10 years. We all prefer the TEC over all the other grills we sell and most of the family members own one, if I had a balcony I'd have one too. I'm on the service and install side of things so If you have any questions I'm sure I can answer just about anything.

Like the other poster said, your cooking with a much higher heat so it takes a little getting use to. What's great about infrared burners is that the extreme heat allows you to quickly sear the meat which locks in the juice so that it doesn't dry out.

They come with a really good warrenty and basic lay out of the grill is pretty simple so not much goes wrong with them. The problems I do see are usually caused by neglect, some people are just lazy and don't clean the grill, so the grease piles up and clogs the ceramic burners. The one thing I like over other grills like the Solaire (which is TEC's main competitor) is that it uses a pilot to lite the burners instead of an electronic ignition. Electronic ignitions are just too problematic.
