I think there is something to be said for letting off steam by LAGing it up.

And this is totally cool. I wanted to be clear about it. It's just if you are in shape where a night a bleeding at .5/1 is gonna cause you to loose sleep, it's better not to play there. I'm not saying you specifically fall into this category -- I just think it would be a shame if a 2+2 game resulted in hurt feelings or interfered with, for example, a person's move up to 1/2 or something.

Seriously -- I would be totally down for some .02/.04 at Stars one night.

I really wish I knew a site that had a Razz game.

This post was supposed to be a joke

..and was taken as such, just like everything last night.

The reason why I love playing 2+2 tables is it gives me practice in playing on highly aggro tables...and also on tables with thinking players and shifting table dynamics. They rarely stay LAG or TAG...they usually alternate between the two. Last night was actually one of the tighter 2+2 tables I've seen. The only constant is aggression.

If it's LAG...it becomes +EV for me and my nut-peddling THAT NIGHT.
If it's TAG...it becomes +EV for me over the long-term, by learning from players better than I am for a cheap price.

Free Money or a cheap, high-quality education...g00t either way!

2+2 tables are rarely mindless lagfests from beginning to end. They usually fluctuate between taggish boring and laggish exciting. Many of the weekend evening tables I've started have become drunken spewfests but it usually is proceeded by at least an hour of solid play.

2+2 tables are whatever the players at the table make them. I can LAG it up when the mood and beer moves me and I can play my TAG A game. Even when I'm lagging I'm rarely trying to spew, I'm usually trying to run over weak tight players which works to my advantage. You can get incredible action on your real hands when you show down a few stinkers at a 2+2 table.

Some of the best games I've played have been against thinking LAG's like Entity, btspider, shillx and cnfzzd. Their numbers are all LAG but they usually bring it. This type of game helped my play immeasurably and was quite fun. I learned to be more aggressive pf and how to play HU against someone who will fold to aggression but will also slowplay you and punish you when you get out of line.

I guess this thread is mostly dead, but I'll chime in anyway.

First, congrats GregJ on getting the mod spot. Didn't event realize it was up for assignment. You'll be a good mod.

Like most people, when I started my bankroll was much too small. .5/1 was my only game, and I played a lot. I wanted very much to play the 2+2 tables, but not only was I scared to death, but I also felt like if I dropped my buyin it would hurt.

I played anyway, and I did drop my buyin, and it did hurt. This was back when Entity was still a n00b and bison played the .5/1 2+2 table. Goot times. I tried to play the way everyone was telling me to play - like a LAG. But it just wasn't my style, and I was not yet the master of my own style.

Anyway, I didn't play the 2+2 table again for a long time; until my roll was around $500 and I was winning consistantly. When I came back to the table, I decided that instead of trying to play LAG like everyone said (everyone except bison - i noticed that his VPIP was 10, and he always took more off the table than he brough to it), I was going to do my best to take their money. That meant playing my game, not someone else's.

It took some time, but eventually I killed the private 2+2 tables. Now that was cool.

Moral of the story: if I'm sitting accross the table from you, it's my intention to take your money. It's not my intention to play LAG just because I'm 'supposed' to. Do your best to stop me, and to take my money.
