Default Shortstack - late in tourney - QTs on button

Pokerroom $20K guaranteed - 675 entrants - 18 left

Blinds are 4000/8000

You have 44,000

Average stack is 90,000 or so.

Folds to you on button with QTs -

SB has about 70,000 BB has 140,000

Do you raise, fold, or push?

18th pays $187, 15th pays $234, 1st is $5845

Easy push. Even if you have no FE because you showed down 92o last time, there is so much dead money in the pot that its EV++.

If you've been playing tight they may fold the bottom 3/4 of hands (below about k9o), which mean you'll pick up the blinds ~1/2 the time. Also SB is squeezed by BB and probably needs the higher calling standards even if he thinks you're stealing. I wouldn't pay attention to the difference between 18th and 15th, you're going to need some luck to get first.

i had exactly the same situation 3 handed at final table last night. I pushed QTs for about 6bb, bb called off just under 1/3 of his stack with J7s, hit trips and defended his call

But yeah, i push QTs there easily.

Default RESULTS

I am a little surprised no one has responded with "wait for a better spot" - don't risk your whole tourney with QTs, etc, etc.

In the actual hand, of course I pushed -

BB called with 88 and I got no help.

No one responded with a wait for a better option b/c that
would be horrible advice. You are so severely shortstacked
that you have to make a move. This perhaps might be the biggest hand you see until you take the blinds and than you would have
to double up twice to be where you originally started with.
As it turns out you put your money in as a very slight dog, can't ask for a much better spot when shortstacked and you get action.

Definately push, my first final table in a 250+ multi I got infatuated with getting a great hand, laid down a JTs on the button with 24,000 in the pot and only having 42,000. next round I caught the big hand I was dying to see TT, but in front of me was an all in so I got caught calling away.
