Default Poker Wiki - Get Involved

As some of you are probably aware, AKQJ10 has setup a Wiki devoted to poker. The beginner's FAQ is there as well as some other information that's starting to filter in.

You'll find the Poker Wiki here.

If you're wondering what a Wiki is, read on.

A wiki is a community effort to provide information on a particular topic. It's a forum in which all members are able to contribute by creating and editing articles. If you have an area of expertise or knowledge, please feel free to contribute. All you have to do is navigate to the topic that interests you and click "Edit" to begin adding or editing information.

A wiki is only as good as those who participate. If we get a large user base contributing, the information should get better.

Anyone is free to contribute. A good place to start is by adding a review of your favorite poker room, either Brick & Mortar or online.

This can be a great resource, come help make it so.

Regards,

T

It must be pointed out that SheridanCat is the author of the single biggest chunk of content there, namely the FAQ, which I believe dwarfs the rest of the wiki combined.

Also, he and I have started adding some content on the Limit Hold 'em section (that's just a stub, but so far we've got an article on pocket pairs that gives an example of what we might do with this). Obviously there's plenty of unwritten content, so jump right in.

I'd like to support your site, but I'm not as knowledgeable as most. Any way a beginner can contribute?

Absolutely!

(I'm taking your post to mean you're a poker beginner as well as a wiki beginner.)

Even if you're not creating new content from scratch, you can help edit articles that are up there. You can also use the "talk" pages (for example, from this page click the discussion tab at the top) to give feedback. It's especially important to have newer players involved in the feedback process, because it's easy to accidentally make assumptions about what your audience knows.

Also, if you play online or at a casino poker room, check to see if it's listed on the respective page. If it already has an article, you can fact-check it. If it doesn't, you can start one.

Feel free to send me a private message (here or there, I check both) if you have any problems finding stuff or getting started.
