Default Thoughts on crazy home game

I play occasionally in this hopped up home game where the most common game is a wild variation of Omaha H/L. Instead of 4 hole cards everyone gets 5 and there are no restrictions on using board and hole cards. So, someone could be dealt A thru 5 suited for a 5 low and 5 high straight flush and you would never know.

I am interested in some thoughts on starting hand requirements and playing strategies.

Typically 2 or 3 Lag's, 2 or 3 Lpp's, 1 Tpp and 2 Tag's.
Fixed limit.

You might get better responses posting in the Omaha forum.

I've played this game a few times with some older guys, who just like to gamble...
Usually the betting is $10/$20/$40/$50.
I came out up $2k one night, and down $300 the other...

See as many cheap flops as you can with good low draws.
Play any hand with 3+ lows in your hand.
A2346 is NOT that strong a low in this game.

Good luck.

So this is a full table then?

What is the name of this game?

If this is an eight handed game almost every single card is going to be out. That means when the board is threatening a big hand... paired flops, three-flushes etc. someone ALWAYS has it. I would think bluffing in this game would very ineffective.

When I first read your description I thought it sounded retarded but the more I think about it there are some definite possibilities to this.

You need to start with at least 3 wheel cards. Especially in a full game. There is going to be a low almost every single hand. The exception would be when you are dealt trip face cards in the hole. Lower trips would be of reduced value unless you had other draws to go with it.

Flop play would be critical. The concealment of the strength of your hi hand would be the key to profitability, especially on boards where a wheel was highly likely.

Furthermore I would venture hands like straights and flushes would be of greatly reduced value by themselves.

Interesting idea
