Re: 1st Royal Ever
Over 24k hands I have 5 made straight flushes (none royal -- highest king high) net 42 whopping big bets.
But PT also revealed 4 more non-royal SFs thrown away pre-flop that I hadn't even noticed. No folded royals though... The only one I really got to enjoy though came in a home game when someone else flopped a nut flush and we had no limit on raising if a betting round started heads up... |

Congrats. I've played almost 19,000 hands and have yet to hit one. [/ QUOTE ] I hit my first last night. The only problem is that it was all community and I shared the pot, actually losing $0.25 on the hand. |

Re: 1st Royal Ever
By the way, I was on the button and I did make a stab at the pot with a bet at my sole opponent.
Boy did I hear about it from the rest of the table!! |

Re: 1st Royal Ever
Check/raise that river.
You seriously need to work on your royal flush play. You could probably improve your winrate by .5BB/30 000 or so by playing them better. Nice hand. |

Check/raise that river. [/ QUOTE ] I don't get this advice, assuming it's serious. With the flop and turn checked through, what would make you think anyone would bet the river? I would seriously consider betting the turn, though, with the second-nut flush draw (and a draw to the nut royal, heh). If everyone's a calling station, it's a bet for value (4 to 1). If everyone isn't, you're thinning the field in case you hit a jack on the river. If things break right everyone might fold to your bet, although that would rob you of the enjoyment of trying for the royal. The most important argument for betting the turn: if you do hit your royal flush, you don't have to post it on 2+2 with a measly 4.5 BBet in the pot. |
