Default if it wasnt for online poker...

If online poker didn't exist, how many guys with wives who dont like gambling would ever get to play poker? How many people who dont live near a cardroom/casino would ever get to play? If they yanked online poker today, how would it effect most poker players? How would it effect you? Thanks in advance...

I hate playing live. So slow, and such ridiculous rake/tips. If it weren't for online poker, I probably wouldn't play at all.

I think a lot of people feel the same way, DS. Thanks for the reply.

I wouldn't know nearly as much about the game of poker as I do.

I was thinking about this while I was playing live last weekend.

While I enjoy playing live, I don't think I could ever play as much as I do. For me, at least, the beats you take live are 100 times worse. It's one thing for your AA to get cracked when you're playing 250 hands/hr four tabling (note you're getting AA more than 1/hr), it's another thing entirely when the cards are running bad and you've folded every hand for two hours straight, and then AA gets cracked, and you must calmly resign yourself to folding for the next thirty minutes...

I love playing live. So easy to get reads, and such bad players. If it weren't for online poker, I probably wouldn't be as good at poker.

If the rake and tips bother you so much just play at higher stakes, because the players don't get much better as you move up. The thing that gets me about live play is having to drive and buy food (I get hungry after several hours of play) which adds costs to going to play where online doesn't.
