Default mini trip report, harrah\'s council bluffs

Hello all,

This is my first trip report so bear with me.

I left for the casino about noon after waking up from an extended night of drinking. This was poor planning on my part as I had to go to work at 5. So as I'm walking onto the boat I run into a buddy of mine that once stole a book from me. I give him some crap about it and he goes and gets it. Off to a positive start already.

Walking to the poker room I see there is somewhat of a list so I sign up for everything they have. Within 5 minutes they open a new 4/8 table so I buy in for two racks. Lose a big pot quickly with AK on a K76 flop where the guy turns his set of 9's and fills on the river. The pot was capped preflop SEVEN WAYS. Sad to see that one shipped across the table but life goes on.

Not much in the way of cards but something interesting seems to be happening just outside the ropes, the floor is showing someone faintly familiar looking the ropes of playing our game. A seat at our table opens up and the guy sits in it. Shortly thereafter a guy wearing a cowboy hat comes up and asks for his autograph. Then several groups of people come up and start to watch this guy play. Turns out it was Sammy Kershaw, a country singer doing a concert here tonight. Sammy Kershaw buys in for 50 dollars. At the start he was fumbling around but caught on quickly, winning a huge pot with a well timed river checkraise.

With a support crowd behind him, Sammy was doing well, until I gained all of his fan's universal hatred by having AK vs. Sammy's AQ on a AKQ board. After that hand, with about a half hour to go in my session, I go on an absolute tear. Two sets, three straights and a flush turn my 20 dollar gain for the day into a 220 dollar gain. Then, right before I leave I decide to raise blind UTG+2. I do so without touching my cards, as per JSD's straddling guide. I then proceed to raise the flop to the max when bet into. Making the mortal mistake of looking at my cards after the turn hits, I notice I have K 10 with a board of K84 6. More raising ensues. The river 10 only solidifies my hold. I drag a monster as two players muck their KQ. Sammy nods in approval. I muck my last hand UTG and leave.

Soooooo thats it I guess, I will leave the part about the midget and the circus clown for another time.
