What to do with bottom 2 pair?

Normally with bottom two pair, I'm done. However, the TAG has played... well, tight and aggressive, all night. I'm not sure that he's shown down a hand, but the few times he's played a hand he's bet the pot. Given his pre-flop raise, I think the chances that he has AA is pretty high.

When I sat down, the LAG had about $90. He's now down to 10, and on tilt. He just sucked out the previous hand going all-in pre-flop with total junk against AA and caught a straight. He's trying to give his money away.

Push or fold?

PS Yes, I normally wouldn't play this hand either. However, I'm on the button, and if I make a hand I pretty much know I'm going to get paid off by the LAG.

Firstly, don't forget TAG has 4 cards, not just two. Other than that, sounds like you've talked yourself into calling. You mention strong considerations to deviate from normally solid play. I still might not, but I just don't like calling and taking those sorts of chances. When I do, even in a situation like this one, I regret it most of the time. Keep in mind that though this may work on one particular hand or another, what really matters is if you will make money with the play in the same context over (theoretically) limitless iterations.

I also really don't like your hand for a raise preflop. It's just jacks (weak unless you hit) and jt of hearts. Not enough for me to cold call a raise. To cold call a raise I need to see 3 decent hands. You have like 2.2.

Since there is no flush draw out, and your JJ lessens the liklihood of a wrap straight draw, I definitely push this

Yes, those pesky xx cards can trip you up sometimes, can't they?

The BB might have been trapping too, though I don't think I considered that possibility at the time. He'd pretty much have to have QQ to continue there I would think.

While I did have to call a raise with a sub-par hand, it was a small raise. I think that calling there is marginally +EV, but not by much. Pretty high variance too.

Now that I think about it more, having the LAG there also has the negative side-effect of keeping me from bluffing if I whiff, since he's going to be there ahead of me. I probably should have passed.
