They came up with that name by borrowing it from the old adage 2+2=4, meaning something is simple and logical. They felt this was an appropriate name because their philosophy is to break down the teaching of poker into a series of simplified, clear, and relatively easy to understand concepts.

I thought it had to do with the "outs times 2 plus 2" method of calculating pot odds as explained in 2 plus 2 method explained
