Default Convert AVI to DVD (vob?)

does anyone have a link to software I could download to covert typical computer video files (avi, for instance) to files I could burn to a dvd then play in a regular dvd player (vob fiels, right?)?

Thanks for any help.

Adobe makes "Encore"... I've never encoded a DVD myself.

I don't know if this is a satisfactory solution, but you can get dvd players that play the .avi files directly. I bought this one and have been happy with it. It's been great for both standard dvds and downloaded tv shows.
