So the avg stack is about 3200 and I have 3000. theres about 300 left and top 100 gets paid. Full table blinds 75/150. EP (1300) minraises to 300. I look down at JJ in MP. your move?

Re: JJ vs short stack minirase
Do you have any reason to suspect that he's trying to slowplay AA or KK here with his small stack? If he's just a standard donk I probably make a healthy reraise to isolate here, since I'm not laying down Jacks but I don't really want people behind me to come for the ride either.

Re: JJ vs short stack minirase
The miniraise to me is a sign of extreme strength and makes me think that he has QQ+. If he has a lower pp or AK i think he would just push.
Hand 1: 43.2287 % 41.86% 01.37% { JJ } Hand 2: 56.7713 % 55.40% 01.37% { TT+, AKs, AKo } Seems like a fold but I dunno if I can lays jacks preflop here.. |

Re: JJ vs short stack minirase
This is very read-dependent. As mentioned, it is probably either a higher pair or a donk with God knows what. Either way, it is a bad play. If he has a big pair, he should just push or limp, as the miniraise may tip people off.
There is some possibility he is stealing with junk and would fold to a reraise. He could also have a standard raising hand and think the miniraise looks stronger than a push. If villain had just pushed or limped, you would go allin against him with JJ. The question is should you be scared of the miniraise. |
