Re: JJ in the small blind - worth playing?
Played well until the river. Bet the river, call a raise.
If I was raised on the turn I may call down or 3 bet depending on reads on my opponents. |

Re: JJ in the small blind -- RESULTS
[ QUOTE ]
The site I was playing on does not show mucked losing hands in the hand history, so I have no idea what they were calling with. [/ QUOTE ] Are you on pacific? Man what a crappy software interface. I'm only on there for the fish o plenty and the free chipset. |

Re: JJ in the small blind - worth playing?
Hmmmmm...I'm still not convinced I should have bet the river.
I'd say it's about 50/50 that one of my three opponents has a hand that can beat me. By betting out when I'm behind, I lose two bets. Do you think I'll win two bets when I bet out and I'm ahead? PP |

Re: JJ in the small blind - worth playing?
almost no one will bluff this river.. if they bluff bet, they'll probably bluff raise at 1/2 the frequency.. so those scenarios more or less cancel each other out.
by checking you win 0 bets when ahead and lose 1 bet when behind. by betting you win 0-3 bets (maybe 1 - 1.5 avg) when ahead and lose 1-2 bets (1.75 - 2 avg) when behind (assuming they always raise). |

[ QUOTE ]
I agree. A bet does not protect your hand and if checked trough, a bet on the turn if a blank falls will. Also, at this limit, you can't count on the player to your left raises to protect his hand even if he got good reason to do it. Party players at this limit most often just call in the hope for a cheap card that will improves their hand. [/ QUOTE ] and they will often check hoping for the same. a bet protects yourself from backdoor draws, backdoor two pairs, and Qx type hands.. a check through protects you from nothing. of course you can't count on someone to raise behind you when you bet out, but its likelihood cannot be ignored. if you could check-raise an LP bettor 100% of the time here, then a flop bet is folly. how often do you think: 1. the flop will be checked through? 2. one of the two players on your right (LP players) is first to bet? 3. one of the two players to your left raises your flop bet? |
