Default Re: Party Step Higher Question

I thought about this when they announced they were starting payouts at step 4.

Payouts at step 5 are as follows:

1st: $25000
2nd: $15000
3rd: $10000

At step 4, you can get 3500 for taking 3rd. So, if you get to top 3 at step 4 should you try to lose and take the $3500?

If you get to step 5, what is the expected amount you will win? Assuming you have a 10% chance of taking 1st, 10% for 2nd, and 10% for 3rd. (Although, I would think the percentages would be a little higher for good players.) With those chances, you should expect to win $5000 for every Step 5 you play (over time).

So, in the long run, it is better to take top 2 at step 4, but I can see how it would be hard to pass up the $3500.

Good luck.

Asked earlier..but no response.

I've won my way in to step 4; which pays 600-3500 for 7th thru 2nd I think and 1st goes on to step 5.

Step 5 looks like it only pays top three place. (25k-10k)
and 4-10 get nothing?

I'm wondering if that is correct. Cause if so; I might rather take a 2nd in a step 4 (for 3500) than get to step 5 where 7 of 10 make nothing.

Any help is appreciated.
