This Never Gets Old (Low Content) 5/10
Been running so well lately it's sick.
This may or may not be standard/borderline, let me have it. Very tight, fairly predictable, solid nutpeddler (2.5K, me too) opens to 40 UTG, i call on co with 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (90) He bets 40, i raise to 160, he takes his time calling. K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (410) He instachecks, I instacheck 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (410) He bets 200, I 800, He pushes. yum. fim |

Except I had 22 and the Villian who was by far the worst guy at the table had AA. He had $700 at a $100nl table and was still down for the day. |

Fim, are you posting this hand as a joke? I know, you marked it low content, so possibly you're not holding this up as great play.
But seriously, I'd be very interested to hear your thought processes on this hand. Personally I don't like it PF and I don't like it on the flop. If you're getting long-term value out of those two moves I'd like to see an explanation as to why. |

Re: This Never Gets Old (Low Content) 5/10
by my count fim put 200 in the pot with the worst hand, and 2300 with the best hand. certainly not a standard line, but if it ain't broke...
maybe i just say that cause I cracked KK yesterday with 3-5, but it was sooooooooooted! |

Re: This Never Gets Old (Low Content) 5/10
People don't like the call pre-flop? It's 2% of his stack in position with a suited connector against a tight UTG raiser. Isn't this almost an auto-call?
The flop play is VERY interesting. If PFR's hand range is AA/KK/QQ/JJ/AK, will he believe that you have an ace or set of twos and dump all the non-ace hands? If not, can you bet him off the non-ace pairs with a bet on the turn? Also, with AA, will he call because a three-bet is likely to scare you off, with you likely drawing incredibly slim or dead? And with AK, he would fear a set. Therefore, it's entirely possible that Villain will not three-bet any hands here. That doesn't make the raise a great play, but with an inside straight draw and running flush draw, plus possible bluff equity... I don't know. The turn is dangerous for you - AK becomes more confident, and KK picks up a set. QQ and JJ would definitely shut down here, and I don't know the EV calculations, but a bet seems like a terrible play. And the river is, the river. Beautiful. |
