Default Why so many threads on Annie Duke?

Why do so many people seem to be (a) obsessed with her, and (b) intent on ripping her?

I'm well aware of the gossip on RGP, her reputation, etc., but don't believe everything you read on the internet. For what it is worth, I've met Annie, we played at the same table a few weeks ago at the Bellagio, and she was friendly and a pleasure to have at the table (and there were no breaches of etiquette).

I think it has increased lately because she actively posts here and the trolls can get a response out of her. Feeding the trolls is the number one way to encourage them, unfortunately.

Seems like there's some predictable subset of posters here who fear public disclosure of shrinkage unless they repeatedly slander a public figure from their relative comfort of well-deserved anonymity (not to be confused with mom's basement).

i think mostly people are asking real questions, like myself. you can tell who the trolls are and who they aren't.

It doesn't help that ESPN is obsessed with Annie also. I'd estimate that about 10 minutes out of every hour of their programming, on average, is focused on Annie Duke.

I believe Army is simply exaggerating for effect. Seems a bit obvious.

(a) she's the best female poker player alive (IMO) and...
she's very pretty. Therefore.. OK, I won't go there, but if I was single and she'd have me, I'd be asking her out.

(b) because they're pussies

God, my wife is going to read this. I'm a complete tool.
