Odds Question
If you are holding pocket pairs, what are the odds that you'll hit trips on the flop?

ok, you have AA. there are 50 cards left. flop is 3 cards. you have 2 chances in 50 to hit a A. 2 chances = 8%. 8 x 3 is 24%. i dont know if its right, but thats what i think.

ok im an idiot. the odds are 12%. 2 chances would be 4%, 3 chances would be 12%. so youre roughly 1 in 8 to flop a set.

The odds of at least a set on the flop is about 7.3:1.
The odds of exactly a set on the flop is about 8.3:1. Honestly, the math of this bores me. I had it about half typed up, and then decided that one can find this in many places including Mike Petriv's Hold'em's Odd(s) Book and King Yao's book. Regards, T
