hi mike

just call and check-call. it's not even close. by the way; when he raises the turn, now would be a great time to call him down to learn more about his playing style. 3-betting this unknown has a lot of unnecessary risk. it's an o.k. move those times you are dominating the entire field. if you are in a break even or losing cycle, you should never 3-bet it.

Typo. I've even had Mike L. over to my house. 'Course, the local police thought his car was abandoned and wanted to tow it....

Could you elaborate as to why 3betting is wrong here during a losing streak? I think that after his first raise, regardless of how you've been running or how the table views you, you're ahead an overwhelming majority of the time and he's usually calling. Do you disagree with this or do you think that there is a reason outside EV for this hand not to 3bet?

Off topic, but say you do 5bet, what's it like to make it $1,000 on a street (you know i'm not the only one thinking this)?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it depends on whether he found out he was doing it with a 2-outer or not.

Toss in another raise, but if he six-bets, call it down.

I still think he's got TT-KK, but if there's another raise, I'm worried about a set.

BTW, have you played in PokerStars' 100-200 game?

[/ QUOTE ]

i know it's 100-200, but TT and JJ would likely 4bet this turn against mike's 3bet preflop and turn 3bet? i don't think that's likely enough to make 5 betting profitbale, especially since he has to call down.

The main advantage to not 3-betting and calling down (when you haven't been running good) is that you'll discourage the hyperaggressive players from taking shots at you. It's not so much EV on this hand as it is to protect yourself in future hands. That said, I'd still 3-bet, though I'd probably call down after my opponent takes it to 4 bets.

Since his 4 bet may hint of a set of 8s or even 6s, I'd just call him down. His raise and subsequent call preflop utg also suggests a medium pocket pair.

Hey mike, if you need some lessons on getting full value on your hands at a 100-200 table, just PM me. Should've gone to a thousand bets like I said buddy, MAYBE NEXT TIME.
