Subject says it all. In DC for the summer and looking for a game. What's my best bet in our nation's capital?

the closest legal cardroom is AC. so either take a hike up there or look for a home game.

its about 175 miles, so a good 3+ hour trip driving. yeah they definately have buses that go up there, trip will be longer but if you find a deal it will be pretty cheap.

You can take the Amtrak up to Philly and then catch another train to AC. The Amtrak trip is going to be relatively expensive, while the train to AC will be relatively cheap. But it's convenient, as it's pretty quick and quiet, and you can come back whenever you want.

The busses are pretty cheap, but you get what you pay for. Start building up your bankroll and use it to buy a car.

i agree with the bankroll comment. its just easier to drive up yourself. the train is a pain in the ass in my opinion, and too expensive.

i'm considering visiting d.c. at some point to visit my brother and checking out atlantic city during the week. my brother lives in the city and does not own a car. i would probably rent a car for the journey, but it kinda seems like a waste, as i'd be spending all my time at the poker table.

thanks for the info.

It's not that bad a drive. I make it a few times a month. Anywhere from 3 to 4.5 hours, depending on traffic around Baltimore and on 295 in NJ. About $30 in tolls roundtrip also. I'd definitely recommend driving if it's feasible.

Martz Travel runs a bus to Atlantic City daily(morning) and twice daily(morning and evening) on Fridays and Saturdays. They guarantee six hours of time there. They drop off at the Tropicana and the Sands. Cost is $32. Rebate is $17. You can also make arrangements to stay overnight. They pick up at Springfield, Union Station, Camp Springs, Landover, Greenbelt and Silver Spring. Call the day before to reserve a seat.
